N.C. Study Away & Jack Meinert
N.C. Study Away Trip
Towards the end of this month, eight entrepreneurship students will be taking a trip to North Carolina and staying in Chapel Hill to explore the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Before the class leaves for North Carolina, they will be also be visiting various locations in NE, Ohio such as PENSKE Trucking, The Burton D. Morgan Foundation, Jeff Bradish's Executive Suites, Youngstown Business Incubator, Bounce Innovation, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Portage Development Board, and JumpStart.
While in North Carolina, the class will visit the First Flight Venture Center, The Launch Factory, Taylor Communications, Raleigh IBM, Lithios, Wrightsville Beach, and some great places to eat!
The trip is a great way for students to expand their overall knowledge of the entrepreneurship ecosystem and meet successful entrepreneurs while having fun. The entrepreneurship study away is not an annual trip; however, it is highly recommended for future entrepreneurship students to take advantage of the next opportunity if able.
Student Spotlight - Jack Meinert
Jack is originally from Cambridge, Ohio and is currently a sophomore at Hiram College and plans to major in Accounting and minor in Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Hiram College Men's Soccer Team as a goalkeeper/defender.
Jack's favorite entrepreneurship experience was the student venture because it allowed him to create his own business with a group of other students. His group made lemonade from scratch and sold to other students on campus. He recommends other students at Hiram do at least one entrepreneurship course because he believes it will be beneficial for anyone regardless of their major.
In the summer, Jack will be an intern at E-structures where he will be helping with business operations and financing. After graduation, Jack plans to find a job in accounting and eventually start his own business.
