Whoa Dough, Bob James, and Sustainability

Whoa Dough & Camdyn Miller

Camdyn is a Hiram senior from Creston, Ohio and is set to graduate in December of 2022. She is majoring in Accounting and Financial Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship. She is a member of multiple clubs and leadership positions including Accounting Club, Hiram Women's Soccer, and the Alumni Calling Program. Last semester, Camdyn was apart of the student ran venture class (ENTR 30600) where she and her group worked with a healthy snack bar company, Whoa Dough

Although the class ended last semester, Camdyn decided to continue working with Whoa Dough because she had a vision of bringing the snack bar onto Hiram College. The snack bar comes in six different flavors and are sold at $2.50 per bar. She plans to sell the bars to students and get clubs and sport teams to purchase the bars in bulk for fundraisers. Camdyn is also in the process of creating a social media platform in hopes to gain customer attraction. The plan of selling the snack bar on campus is still in the early stages, but Camdyn hopes to have more developments soon.

Student Spotlight - Bob James

Bob is a Hiram junior from Strongsville, Ohio and set to graduate in May of 2023.  He is majoring in Marketing and minoring in both Management and Entrepreneurship. Bob is a member of the High Performance Program (HPP) and also a starting pitcher on the Hiram baseball team.

Bob decided to join the Entrepreneurship minor because he has always wanted to be his own boss and believes that the minor will help him eventually run his own business by developing his leadership skills. The hands-on activities are Bob's favorite part of the minor because he is able to apply the concepts he learns in class to a real world issue that a business is currently facing.

Bob is currently an intern at Insurance Strategy Inc where he is responsible for running their social media and completing other daily tasks. After graduation, Bob plans to get a job in marketing with a Major League Baseball team where he can focus on the social media side of operations.

Sustainability Through Entrepreneurship

Earlier this week, Hiram College hosted an event on sustainability where Co-Founders of Venture Forward Strategies, Victoria Avi and Danielle Doza, talked about how businesses can make a positive impact in the world. The partners also discussed the journey of their own venture and how they are on a mission to help companies take actionable steps towards sustainability. During the event, participants were able to form groups and discuss ideas of their own that they believe would result in a positive social impact and a more sustainable market.
