Etiquette Dining Event

Earlier this week, Kris McGuigan spoke to students on how to stand out in the workplace and gave tips on how to create a lasting first impression. Kris is a successful business owner and mentor for the Hiram Mentorship Program. To learn more about her, you can click here to read her spotlight. 


The etiquette dinning event also awarded 15 suit scholarships worth $150 for students to shop for professional attire. Additional giveaways included a campfire mug with marshmallows and a dessert box filled with cheesecake, cookies, and chocolate covered pretzels. Events like the etiquette dinning are great opportunities for students to learn something new and work on networking and is highly recommended for inspiring entrepreneurs to participate.

Student Spotlight - Jordan Mallernee

Jordan is currently a junior at Hiram College and set to graduate in 2023. He is majoring in Marketing and minoring in Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the High Performance Program and plays as an outfielder for the Hiram baseball team. 

He has not yet completed an internship; however, he ran a clothing company with three classmates during a semester at school. Social media was Jordan's best tool for advertising the clothes. The company earned a good amount of profit and thought Jordan real world business applications that can easily be applied in the workforce. 

Jordan has been enjoying the entrepreneurship courses and recommends other students to get involved because entrepreneurship is a skill that is important to many employers.

Student Spotlight - David Angarita David is a sophomore from Eustis, Florida and set to graduate in the spring of 2024 with a major in Biomedical Humanities and a minor in Entrepreneurship. Camdyn Miller & LaunchHouse

  Camdyn Miller Camdyn is an Accounting and Entrepreneurship student at Hiram College. She is also a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs and plans to obtain her CPA license after graduation. As a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, Camdyn spreads awareness about accounting. On the 2nd of December, she presented at the monthly Scarborough School of Business and Communication meeting. She explained that the accounting field is growing and is estimated to have 140,000 new jobs available by 2024. Speaker Series, Shelby Edwards & Kris McGuigan

  Current Events  Earlier this week, the Scarborough School Alumni Networking Night took place. Students were able to network with alumni and get a better understanding of different careers paths available for them after graduation.  Additionally, the Speaker Series starts next week on Thursday, October 7th from 6-7:30pm.
