Current Events

On October 7th, Hiram students had the opportunity to attend the first Entrepreneurship speaker series and listen to guest speaker, Carlton Dean III. We thank Carlton for sharing his entrepreneurial story and sharing great advice with those who attended.
Additionally, be sure to check out The Commons Innovation Accelerator Program. The program is for students of all majors and can be used to supplement Hiram's programming, coursework, and even provide micro-internship opportunities all at no cost to students. The program starts October 29th, so be sure to register as soon as possible if interested.

Student Spotlight - Declan Ange

Declan Ange is a Hiram senior studying Sports Management and Entrepreneurship. Declan is currently a member of the men's baseball team, Entrepreneurship Club, and the head of intramural sports. He is also an intern for Dinon & Associates and works on recruitment and data entry. After graduation, Declan plans to attend grad school and earn a master's degree. He enjoyed the entrepreneurship minor and has many favorable memories. His favorite part of the minor was creating a business where he sold cake pops on campus with his friends.

Mentor Spotlight - Trevor Capiccioni

Trevor is an entrepreneur who also serves as a mentor in the Entrepreneurship Mentor Program. He graduated from Dayton University in 1999 with a business degree. After graduation, Trevor worked with various companies, mostly working in sales. Each place he worked, Trevor quickly became the top salesman for the company.

Eventually, Trevor got recruited into the medical industry and hired by Bard for medical distribution. Trevor became successful in his position at Bard but became tired of working for other people and decided to start his own medical distribution company, Patriot Surgical. The pandemic helped Trevor's business because it allowed him to sell Covid-19 tests to schools and businesses. Trevor is glad he took the risk of opening his business while he was young and is happy to make a difference in patient's lives.

Trevor believes that sales and persuasion is one of the most important skills to learn in life. He advises inspiring entrepreneurs to focus and take massive action because you will get a lot of rejection but it is beneficial to remain persistent.
