Student Spotlight - Jaret Barclay

Jaret Barclay is a Business Marketing and Entrepreneurship student at Hiram College and will be graduating in the fall of 2022. He is a Resident Assistant and apart of many clubs on campus including the Entrepreneurship Club. Despite his demanding schedule, Jaret launched his Kombucha SuperAde business  in March of 2020. Kombucha SuperAde is a homemade drink that contains healthy probiotics. Jaret started his business because he personally had digestive issues and suffered from bloating, inflammation, sporadic energy levels, and mood changes. After researching for a solution, he came across the health benefits of Kombucha. After realizing that there was a gap in the market for Kombucha, Jaret decided to start producing his own drink. He talked with his mentors and created a business plan through his Entrepreneurship class at Hiram College. He currently has a grape flavored Kombucha and has been selling to the Hiram community. Jaret plans to eventually have his drink manufactured so he can enter the retail space.

Mentor Spotlight - Jim Kurtz

Jim Kurtz, a participating mentor for the Hiram College Entrepreneurship Mentor Program, is the owner of a real estate company called Kurtz & Company. He has been in the real estate industry for more than 40 years and serves the Northeast Ohio market for both the residential and commercial market. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Jim and his team sold 153 properties for over 50 million dollars worth of real estate in 2020. Jim is also a mentor for Tommy Rink, a senior at Hiram College. Their relationship has been beneficial for both parties and they regularly keep in contact with each other. Jim advises young entrepreneurs to learn the skill of delegation, because with out it, scaling a business is close to impossible.
