HPP, Ben Zuniga, & Scott Altman

Current Events

Last week, Dave Kukurza kicked off the High Performance Program (HPP) for select Hiram College students minoring in Entrepreneurship. The program consists of highly motivated students who wish to develop strong communication and leadership skills. Each student in the High Performance Program will be matched with a mentor, allowing the student to learn from an established and successful entrepreneur. Students in the HPP will also become a member of Toastmasters, a professional group focused on improving public speaking and communication.

Student Spotlight - Ben Zuniga

Ben Zuniga is this week's student spotlight! Ben is senior at Hiram College and studies Business Management, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing. He is a member of the Men's Hiram College Soccer team and a club member for entrepreneurship, chest, and snowboarding.

This past summer, Ben secured money from a private lender and purchased a real estate property and spent most of his summer making renovations. Once the property is completely renovated, Ben plans to get his real estate license and sell the property himself for a profit. Ben plans to continue his real estate journey after graduation.

Ben has had a great experience with the Entrepreneurship minor and club. His favorite event was the Ideablitz competition and bowling at Pinstripes.

Mentor Spotlight - Scott Altman

Scott Altman is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) for the fifth largest investment firm in the nation, Raymond James. He has been a CFP since 2003 and lives in Richfield with his wife. Scott also has three children and takes pride in sharing his blessings and doing inner-city missionary work.

Scott specializes in wealth management, retirement planning, and retirement income solutions. In the past year, Scott has seen his business thrive due to Covid-19. The stock market has gone up by 100% and allowed Scott's clients to see a great return. Scott also believes that there are a lot of opportunity in the Zoom economy, because it is a relatively new market and personal productivity is at an all time high.

Scott advises young entrepreneurs to build good habits and be discipline in all practices of life. Scott also recommends to surround yourself with people that are successful in whatever field of study you are interested in learning.  Most entrepreneurs fail multiple times, but it is important to not be shocked at failure and continue to persist.
